I really want to go to this restaurant, but every time I think about it I’m on my way elsewhere. Either way, I’ve passed it many times and I just love it! The Bar Trem Velho near Alameda Duquesa Palmela, Cascais, Portugal
The reason why I love it so much – other than being completely green which is my favourite colour, is that it has literally been made out of an old tram! I really enjoy when people take old places or objects and do not just throw them away, but become creative and transform them into something new – especially when they still keep the old look.
The typography is suiting, and probably reflects upon the one used when it was really a tram, as well as the little white curtains. I wonder what it looks like in the interior, because from the outside it seems like you would get the real old fashioned experience of being on a tram! :)
The main unfortunate part is … the menu signs outside! This tears down all class and vintage charm by splashing some McDonalds styled menu signs on a pole right in front of the restaurants name. After having seen this I felt that maybe the interior wouldn’t be as nice as I was hoping, so perhaps I won’t venture inside to keep intact my ideal vision?
But I still love the exterior. Off to the Algarve today where I definitely will not have any internet, but I will share everything once I’m back online!
